Bold 9000 dead?

Plugging in the charger in the Bold 9000 makes the red light in the upper right-hand corner come on for a second or two. Then nothing.

 

No charge even when leaving the charger on all night. I have tried this with two different BB batteries.

 

Connecting the Bold 9000 to a PC (with the proper USB-driver installed) also makes the red BB light stay on for a second or two.

 

Entering

 

JavaLoader -u -p<pin> -w<password>  wipe

 

on the PC gives

 

"HResult error during Open: 80040154   Error: Unable to open port".

 

Are there any points on the BB system board or other of its parts that can be checked with a volt meter to verify that the Bold 9000 is in fact dead and/or beyond repair?
