Bold 9700 asking for MEP code / SIM card requires unlock code

Hi. I've recently relocated from the UK to Singapore. My Bold 9700 is asking for MEP code and also SIM card requires unlock code. Any ideas on how to get these? I've received no help from Vodafone UK as the Blackberry is about 2 yrs old. Thanks in advance. RS

Re: Bold 9700 asking for MEP code / SIM card requires unlock code

Hi. Thanks for the link and info. It is indeed locked. I just got this exact message " enter network MEP code" Is there any way I can do this without having to pay for the code from a third party? Thanks

Re: Bold 9700 asking for MEP code / SIM card requires unlock code

IF the original branded carrier will give you one, try them. Whoever the carrier is whose logo is on the device.

If you don't have an account with them anylonger, it's unlikely.

Most unlock codes cost less than $10USD, and some free in some places, but you NEED to be careful with untrusted vendors. The one I have in the link is trusted.

Re: Bold 9700 asking for MEP code / SIM card requires unlock code

At the SIM card option when I type MEP2 or MEP4 - nothing happens (no hidden menu).  It's an inactive AT&T SIM card, and the top of the screed indicates SIM card: Security Disabled.  When I insert a Vodafone SIM card the top of the screed indicates SIM Card: Security Enabled, but I get the same result, (no hidden menu appears.  Any suggestions?

Everything on that screen (SIM, network etc.) indicates "Disabled"  Does that mean it's unlocked?
