I recently started using a new BB Bold 9780 (BB6.).
This is a fine phone..... and browses quite well with GPRS/3G.
However, if I switch wifi on, (connected to my home wireless router) the Browser does not work at all.
"Unable to find the requested server"
I have a Netgear router and that is fine for other devices.
BB 9780 wifi session is set to WPA
I have a dataplan with Virgin.
I conclude that wifi does not work and that would be very disappointing.... and sounds odd!
When all the sales people say that this is a wifi enabled device.
Has any one any tips or tricks?
I wondered whether Opera 5.1 might help- but that Opera died when I tried to launch it!

Look at your device to the top right, is there a bright white WiFi logo, or is it grey?
In your Device Options > WiFi, does it say connected to your named router?
PIN: C0001B7B4 Display/Scan Bar Code
PIN: C0005A9AA Display/Scan Bar Code

I am rather a novice at this.... but here goes:
1: Yes.... top right there is wi fi icon, with at least three bars.
2: Options(spanner) menu / Networks & Connection/Wi Fi Network/ i can see my SSID.
3: Also in the Options /Device/Advance System Settings/Host Routing table there is a list of:
GPRS UK (234030303)
and then a further list of GPRS entries.

Beside the WiFi icon, is there the BlackBerry icon to the right of it? If there isn't, then the 9780 isn't completely connected to the router. I find that the 9780 sometimes drops the connection but quickly regains it.

the BB icon sometimes appears top right, generally when there is a 3G service.
And then the Browser occasionally works. (One time in twenty)
But normally the GPRS service appears does not have the BB Icon.
Then the browser does not work
(Unable to find the requested server)
Of course, if I switch the wifi setting off, the Browser works well in GPRS & 3G (But I guess slower than through a wifi connection)
Thanks for the info.....
Any more thoughts?

I am also having the same problem here. I cant seem to use the browser after connecting to my wireless. But I have no problem using the browser to surf the net with EDGE and 3G. I just got my device like 24 hours ago. Kindly advice.

Well I finally fixed this one.
My BB could not connect to my Netgear router, but it could connect happily with my neighbour's wifi.
I switched off the WMM security setting on my Netgear router advanced setting panel.
Bing, the BB now talks wifi.
