Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

There are issues with the early 9790 OS's as well. I have a friend who had overheating issues. 5idnt think the battery was the same but I see now it is.

The newer 7.1 OS's are solving the Same issues as the 9900.

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

Ian, I am still on 7.0 I have been trying like hell but can never find a decent download centre for these upgrades and far as RIM is concerned they have no intention of doing updates via their website as they keep telling me I am registered for email updates.  No wonder these guys are in trouble.

Where can I download with full instructions OS 7.1.0.523 ? I need help real bad?

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

Yep, I am in a new job, so my time is less. However it also means I am away from a charger most of the day.

I have .523 on for almost a week there and it was great, now running a mixed os using the 9810 7.1.0.569 as a base Os and it is even better on battery. Up at 7.20 yesterday, bed at 12.30 and I wasn't even in the red. So that's about 17+ hours on one charge with standard battery.

If we can create an OS like this I am sure RIM can also.

As for .523, @tdsena. It has been officially released so many networks have it on the RIM download site.

Use the blog below to find the links.

Installing is fairly easy but the only thing you need to remember is the vendor.xml.

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

Ian, sorry for asking about stupid things? What should I worry about the vendor.xml? I am downloading from the Thailand AIS Site.  If I use the Blackberry Desktop Option to reload other versions do I have to worry about the vendor.xml file. I cannot wait to do this update as right now I have a thrid party battery from China and it is lasting me at least 20 hours so the update could enhance that number quite a bit?

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

Download the package from AIS, install it on ur pc, then remove or rename the vendor.xml from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader

Connect your blackberry, open desktop manager, do a backup, then run update and it should pickup the new software, although I did a 9790 from 7.0 to 7.1 last week and I had to reboot the handset before it picked up.

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

Just to confirm Ian, .523 is the latest and greatest leak?

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

.523 is the latest 9900 release. But the 9810 has now 2 above that. I am sure the 9900 will follow pretty soon. Smiley Happy

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

Hola. Thanks for the tips.

1 additional question: shall I also get rid of the "Device XML" file as well to make update take?

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

Noooooo, you need that file. Lol. Well, I don't think its essential but don't go removing files for no reason.

Vendor.xml only.
