Bold 9900 GPS makes device restart

Hi all,

I read a lot of similar post to mine but could not find any helpful answer.

I just got a bold 9900. Problem is that the device reboots when using GPS. So I turned turned location services to off. I tried to upgrade the OS to v7.1.0.714. Still no chance in using the GPS without the device rebooting. I wiped the device and again same problem.

People most often send the phone back to the mobile carrier but I was wondering if any other solution exist?

No third party application are used on this phone.

Re: Bold 9900 GPS makes device restart

My BB use the OS 7.1 bundle 2061(Version7.1.0.714),platform5.1.0.532. Well, i got the same problem. It cann't get the  location info not only the  BBmaps, but also the third part apps. "Location info not available" always be a trouble, some time, GPS is really needed. Therefor, i got the google maps. But, the BBmaps was available, the location info either, before i got the upgraded version of  the OS 7.1.

That makes me believe that the new Version OS bing the problme.

Re: Bold 9900 GPS makes device restart

home screen >> options icon (wrench) >> Location settings

the GPS Data source must be set to "Device GPS"
and the location services must be set to "on"

Go in a wide space where you can see the sky, open the menu from that screen and select "refresh location".
in less than 30 minutes you should get your first location.

After that, it takes less than a minute outdoors.
