Bold 9900

Suddenly I'm unable to turn the speaker off during a phone call on my 9900.  Any ideas. The left side "speaker" button does nothing.

Try a battery pull (hard reset) as your first step.

No data will be lost when doing the following: pull the battery while the device is ON.
Replace after a minute, Let the device reboot 1-3 min, see if the problem is fixed.

Thank you. I tried the battery pull prior to posting my comment. On your suggestion I tried again and it worked! Thanks again.
