Bold 9930 Desktop Software !!##@$%

Brand-new Bold.  Plugged it in to my PC and the Desktop software loaded; worked perfectly for about a week.  Then, it refused to sync because of some appointment on my calendar from 2011.  I searched and couldn't find any such appointment.  Decided what I need to do was delete the software and start over.  Clearly the wrong move, since now I am unable to download the software no matter how hard I try.  Help, anyone?

Re: Bold 9930 Desktop Software !!##@$%

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

I suggest this thread:

It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.

If anything fails, do please try to be explicit...e.g., from "I am unable to download the software no matter how hard I try", there actually is very little information from which to properly understand what is going on. Exactly what you try, exactly what happens, etc. are usually much more useful for others to understand from.

Good luck!

Re: Bold 9930 Desktop Software !!##@$%

Failed.  As it has before.  I deleted everything I could find that related to BlackBerry.  Then turned off the PC.  Later, I fired up the PC and used the referenced link.  by the way, that link no longer exists, but when I abbreviated it to http:??us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop  I was taken to a site, the same site I have been to several times before.  I then clicked on the link to download to PC.  The download takes 7 minutes.  Install shield and all that.  When it was all completed, I plugged in my Bold to my PC in hopes of syncing.  When I click on the shortcut installed on my desktop for "BlackBerry Desktop", my screen goes dark for a few seconds and then........ absolutely nothing happens.  BTW, this is exactly the same thing that happened the last 4 times that I tried to download the software.  What do you think I should do next?

I can't tell if you did or did not do anything with the registry. Vagueness leads to a loss of understanding for the other party in the discussion.

So, is that step 1 and 2 of the process? I can't quite tell...

Ummm...what link, exactly? The link I gave you above? I just tried that, and it works perfectly. So, again, I cannot understand from your words what is going on, which prevents me from making useful guesses to help you.

Oh...OK...that's the link in step 3 of the process. But, since that's the link as in that post, I'm not quite sure why you had to alter it.

Wait...what about step 4? Did you decide to skip that?

All in all, from what you said, I can't see that you actually fully followed the process laid out. The process is intended to be very detailed and specific, so as to try and overcome issues such as you are having. But, any deviation from the process can result in failure. And, from what you've said, I don't see that you fully followed the process...hence, I can understand why you would get no different result from before.

Also, please go into more detail about something you said in your first post:

How, exactly, did that manifest?

Thanks and let us know!
