My blackberry is very obsolete and I have upgraded phones more than a year ago.
The BlackBerry Desktop Software 5.0 never uninstalled and always failed with a vbscript.dll error.
From advice that I found on this website, I updated the desktop software to the latest version, yet I still get the same terminal error.
NOW, I am running 64bit Windows Vista - and I have also tried to register the vbscript.dll, yet this did NOT work either.
Please HELP me uninstall this useless bit of software.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I suggest this thread:
It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
Sometimes, if an older version won't uninstall, installing a newer version and then removing it will complete the removal of the old one as well.

I want a simple ONE step install / uninstall like EVERY OTHER APPLICATION that is distributed. I should not have to follow even a 5 step process -- especially any process that MAY not even work at all.
I would bet a month's salary that nothing suggested anywhere here in the forums or knowledgebase works to uninstall it!!!!!!!!!!
I give up. This should not happen.
