CONNECT WIFI

[ Edited ]

CAN ANYONE HELP WITH CONNECTING ON WI FI. IT HAS BEEN DONE IN A SHOP BUT WHEN I TRY TO ON MY HOME NETWORK I CAN'T. I SCAN FOR NETWORKS AND TRY TO LOG ONTO MY NETWORK  I GET THIS COME UP.     THIS WIRELESS ROUTER SUPPORTS WIFI PROTECTED SETUP. TO CONNECT USING A PIN (WHICH YOUR BLACKBERRY WILL GENERATE).     CLICK NEXT.  THEN I GET PROVISIONING WIFI PROFILES ENTER THIS PIN INTO YOUR WIRELES ROUTER 78749542 AND GIVES YOU 5 MINUTES TO CONNECT EACH TIME I DO THIS IT GIVES A DIFFERENT 8 DIGIT NUMBER. NO ONE I HAVE ASKED CAN UNDERSTAND WHY IT ASKS TO PUT THIS NUMBER INTO THE WIRELESS ROUTER OR HOW TO.

CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN WHAT THIS MEANS OR HOW TO CONNECT I HAVE TRIED THE PUSH BUTTON METHOD ASWELL BUT IT WON'T CONNECT TO THE INTERNET.

BY THE WAY I HAVE A BLACKBERRY CURVE 8520

Re: CONNECT WIFI

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

Rather than clicking "Next" at that point, click "Cancel" (I think it says that). It is totally counter-intuitive, but clicking Cancel lets it continue to connect to your WAP, bypassing that PIN configuration.

Hope that helps!

Re: CONNECT WIFI

Hi sdgardne, I know this is an old post but I just joined to say thank you and give you a 'like check', as it seems the OP forgot to do that...

My daughter has been moaning about this problem for weeks, and I confess I didn't take much notice as I bought her a blackberry add-on!  But now she was unable to buy the add-on and wanted the wi-fi sorted.  I always ask her to do a search on her problem, but funny how she never finds a solution and I usually do within a few minutes...

Anyway, your incredibly simple solution saved the day!  So many thanks for that!!

Re: CONNECT WIFI

Pressing Cancel on my 9700 does not bypass the blockade.

HOWEVER - moving the focus to the Cancel and then clicking the menu button does.

RIM should have kicked the bucket already.
