Calendar synch w/ Outlook failing - internal error #-725 (0x8004fd2b)

just upgraded device and desktop s/w to latest and problem did not go away.

Contacts and Notepad synch just fine.

But Calendar fails:

1) reads all device entries

2) reads all Outlook entries

3) then pops up a message: "Error encountered. Error code - 0x8004fd2b. Check documentation."

4) the log says this: "Internal Error #-725. Translation Canceled!"

Device 8700g, XP Pro, Outlook.

Any ideas anyone?

thanks

Re: Calendar synch w/ Outlook failing - internal error #-725 (0x8004fd2b)

I would try deleting the intellisync folder and then trying to sync again. This may or may not help. Below are the instructions:

  1. Close the BlackBerry Desktop Manager application.
  2. Disconnect the BlackBerry device from the computer.
  3. Double Click on My Computer> Local Disk (cSmiley Happy>Documents and Settings>(username)>Application Data>Research In Motion>Blackberry>Intellisync
    • Note: If the Application Data folder is not present, click Tools>Folder Options at the top of the screen.
    • Click the View Tab, then click on Show Hidden Files and Folders.
    • Click Apply>Ok and continue through the remaining steps.
  4. Delete everything within the Intellisync folder.
  5. Launch BlackBerry Desktop Manager and attempt sync the device with the computer.

Re: Calendar synch w/ Outlook failing - internal error #-725 (0x8004fd2b)

Thanks!!! This seems to have solved (at least temporarily) a problem that has been annoying/plaguing me ever since I bought my BB Curve. Until now, I have been reinstalling Desktop Manager everytime it exhibits this behavior, which takes a LONG time. Will this solution last? Or does one have to periodically apply this band-aid? Why does it occur in the first place? Is this common? My wife experiences something similar with her Mac. It seems like something RIM should fix!

:smileyhappy:

Tamrock777 , Thank you for an easy fix.

Worked like a charm.

I agree that RIM folks could make things easier for us novice users.

Deleting the contents of the Intellisync file was the key.

I'd point out that the process of accessing the Intellisync file is a little more convoluted when one is on an office network, as I am.

Again your contribution is appreciated.

I have been having this same problem with my blackberry curve, and have tried this solution, although I'm unable to locate the file you have mentioned in order to clear it from my hard drive.  Please provide further details.

I keep trying to synch my curve with my outlook using the Vista platform and now it gets stuck when uploading my calendar. It says that there was a problem and doesn't talk about an internal error. I tried to do the solution regarding the internal solution and I can't figure out how to get to my computer on my laptop--or I can get into my computer but I only find application and data but no research in motion. Vista is so new to me I have trouble navigating! Help??!

Re: Calendar synch w/ Outlook failing - internal error #-725 (0x8004fd2b)

I've had this problem since this summer when upgraded to a Vista 64 PC and to solve had to revert to Desktop Manager 4.2 ... only desktop that would synch my calendars -

This weekend upgraded to a Bold and ran 4.6 [fully V64 compatible @ RIM] and still can't synch my calendar(s)!! >>> tried solution listed here (deleting all in the RIM sync file -  but did not work .... ANY FURTHER FINDINGS???  ... I would hate to have to reinstall and use 4.2 for my fancy BOLD ... thanks in advance ...
