Camera is unable to save picture taken

Hello,

Every time when I try to take a picture with the Blackberry photo camera software, the application returns an error message "could not save picture". I have already tried to configure my settings to minimise the picture size and to set the saving to the media card. Does not help. I have verified that the device is not full, actually the number of pictures and music files on the system is now 0.

What do I need to do in order to correct?

Re: Camera is unable to save picture taken

First, do you know if your Media Card is actually good?

Go to your Media panel and press the Menu key > Explore > Media Card.

Do you see folders for Pictures, Videos, etc.?

Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.

Can you save ANYTHING to your Media Card?

Open your DocumentsToGo > WordToGo and see if you can create a new document and save to your Media Card.

Re: Camera is unable to save picture taken

I have checked the media card per your suggestion. Complete folder structure is visible, including documents I posted earlier. I am able to move documents from the device to the media player.

So far this doesn't seem to be the root cause of the camera problem.

Re: Camera is unable to save picture taken

Steven, as a test, can you go to your Camera > Options and set the default save to the device memory, and see if the camera will save pictures?

Or try a different Media Card?

Reboot the device and try again?

Re: Camera is unable to save picture taken

Hello,

I have reset the camera options to save to device. when selecting the safe to device option I see that the application calculates the free available space, a banner text "number remaining images 28" is displayed. But when taking a picture, the camera takes a very long waiting time, then displays the very same error message "unable to make picture". This is identical with option save to image card selected.

Strangely enough, the camera does allow me to take videos and save the video files both to the device and to the media card.

Thanks your suggestions.

Best regards,

Steven Van Bauwel

Have you done this? Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot.

Re: Camera is unable to save picture taken

I have once again performed the reboot exactly per your description. The result is identical. The problem persists.

Re: Camera is unable to save picture taken

Ok   Smiley Sad

The next thing I'd try is another media card

And after that, a device wipe and OS reload using BBSAK.

You will need to use BBSAK or JL_Cmder to wipe the device and subsequently load the OS to the device. Follow the instructions here:

For BBSAK, here is the link: http://bbsak.org/
