Can I disable my GPS

Hello There,


Just wanted to know if i could disable the GPS function on my BB Bold, so that i can not be tracked.


Need to do this urgently, as i have an estranged husband following me

yes you can, go to options, advanced options, GPS, and under Gps Location change to location off

Yes you can set Options > Advanced > GPS to OFF.


Also know, that he can only track you if you have, or he has unknown to you, loaded some type of tracking application on your BlackBerry. There are only a couple of applications that do that and allow a person to view the whereabouts of the device via a web browser. 


You can look at on your BlackBerry under Options > Advanced > Applications for any odd applicatons loaded... or even type that list here and we'll help you discern if there is such an application loaded on your BB.

This is a common misconception that GPS sends a signal.  If you have GPS then you are receiving signals from satellites and your position is calculated using the time code from each signal, you DONT transmit anything.  The only advantages of disabling GPS is that your battery will last longer, and you are more likely to get lost!
