I have 3 blackberries at home, a 8520(mine), 9300 and 9320.
I can connect mine to my laptop with ease, can use it as tethered modem, file transfer and everything else.
But when I try to connect the 9300 (because the 8520 only has edge and no 3g) windows tells me it found a "RIM composite device" and I can't do anything with it
except charging. (edit : apparently not anymore too)
When I try to connect the 9320 it isn't even recognized at all, can't even charge it.
So does anyone know what the problem could be?
I tried 3 different blackberry cables, all of the USB ports, clean install of the desktop software & drivers, couple of pc and device reboots...
I have really no idea what possibly could be wrong.
Thank you for your time.

I found this article:
Use advanced mode to uninstall your version:
screen shot of advance mode:
Can you try the 9300 on another computer that has the desktop manager installed? i have a feeling the issue is with your computer. The 9320 could have a hardware issue with the physical port. if another computer isn't available, I understand.

Good troubleshooting. Sounds like the issue is with the computer. Try doing the clean uninstall using the steps listed above.

I checked around some more and this may help if you need to reload the USB drivers on the computer:
