I just downloaded and installed DTM v6.0 and cannot find the area in which to set up third party (Add-ON) software for synchronization. Did they forget about this? Please help. Thanks

OK, I just can't believe this.... I have clicked on every clickable thing in desktop Manager and cannot find the area to set up data synchronization with Add On software! Could it be that someone at RIM missed this? Are they really THAT forgetful? Or am I just missing something? I clicked everywhere. Does anyone know?

Exactly what function are you looking for? It is a little hard to tell for sure from your posts. Further, where, exactly, did you get the idea that what you are looking for was included?

Add On synchronization has been a part of DTM v4 and v5, so I expected to see it in v6 as well.
I have a third party application I have been using called eWallet. It's a program where I store things like passwords and travel card memberships. There is a desktop and a device program that talk to each other so I have my passwords with me on my phone as well as my computer.
It is designed to synchronize through DTM and has worked well in earlier versions of DTM. I used to be able to click on Synchronize Settings and go to the Add On area to set up the relationship so that when I perform a sync, the data for this gets synchronized as well as my organizer data.
In DTM 6 I clicked everywhere I could but did not find the area to set up Add On synchronization.
BTW - I do know about Blackberry's password protector program, however I have been using eWallet since my Treo 650 days, through my Samsung Blackjack phone, BB9000 and now my Torch and the data file has become quite extensive so I'd rather not switch over.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Ahhh...OK...that makes more sense now. From your first post, it seemed like you wanted to sync the actual app (as in, for instance, backup the actual app and then restore it after an OS reload...as opposed to reinstalling the app after an OS reload). But, now I see that it is the App data that you wish to sync.
To be 100% clear -- is this a sync function, similar to how the desktop software synchs with your PIM (e.g., Outlook) for organizer data? Or is this a backup function, where the data is backed up for use in a subsequent restore?

It seems that RIM has changed the way add-ins get registered (and maybe called, too) from DTM. I use Ascendo DataVault for my passwords, and they had to update their application when DTM 6 came out. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that eWallet has to do the same.
When the application gets registered correctly, there is an additional entry on the list for add-ins.

To sd: Yes, it was a sync issue as opposed to a backup thing.
To er2joe: Illium software (eWallet) did have to update their device software to be compatible to OS 6 (Torch) and they did that rather quickly. I do have a question about the software registration - If there are/is no software registered that DTM recognizes, then does the Add-On feature just not appear in DTM? In other words, would the Add On feature appear in DTM if there was software present registered to sync through it?
Edited - FYI: eWallet desktop does see the PIN to my Blackberry as a genuine device to sync with. And in the applications area of DTM, I see eWallet listed, but I assume that this is the device software DTM sees and not the desktop software.

This appears to be a function that needs to be updated by the third party application you're using.

If your add-on app is compatible with DTM 6.0 and you have gone into Applications, then Add-ons is supposed to appear on the main DTM screen (between Applications and Organizer). Therefore, from your descriptions, it would appear (as stated above) that your add-on is not compatible with DTM 6.0. You should contact them to find out if they have an update coming.
