Cannot download apps for blackberry?

I have an unlocked (legally with a code) Blackberry 8300 for when I went out of the country a year ago. Today, for the first time I wanted to download a few apps from the "appworld" for it. The apps I wanted to download said they were compatible with my blackberry (8300). I downloaded the Blackberry App World Browser Plug in (because I want to download it via a usb cable). Then the second step says to connect your smartphone, and then it says "App World Web Plugin Error : Your device is not running a supported operating system."

What does this mean and can I fix it?
