Doing what you desire is indeed a very normal function...but diagnosing why it's not working for you requires understanding what happens when you try. But, from "unable to download", there is so very little symptom information provided that there's really nothing useful to guess. Can you perhaps provide more? For instance, what exactly do you try? What exactly happens when you try? Are there any error messages presented?
Details from you will help us to understand, and hopefully then be able to provide you with useful guidance.

SD is right we need more info. HOWEVER I can say this should be a fairly easy process. It should work either though BB Desktop Manager, or directly through your OS, reading the BB as a USB thumb drive in Mass Storage Mode. Perhaps you are doing something wrong in the process. We really need to know what if any messages you are getting and if you are using BB Desktop Manager
