Changing the desktop icons on the handset

Hi,

I'm new to Blackberry and would like to change the icons (applications) that appear on the desktop of my handset.  It seems to be preset to: email messages; Calendar; Call Log and Browser.

I'd find it really useful to have the memopad and Compose SMS on the front page to save going through the menu.  I've changed the two shortcut keys to give me quick access to other apps, but just wondered if it is possible to change the desktop menu.

Hope you guys can help me.

Thanks

Re: Changing the desktop icons on the handset

Hi and welcome to the forums!

You cannot move the four you mentioned, but you can move the rest. I created two folders  one for all the email

icons I don't use and one for Icons I rarely if ever use. It cuts down on the clutter and keeps you from starting

an app you don't need. To create a folder just hit hit menu key twice from the homescreen and select add folder.

to move an icon, highlight it and press menu select move.

Thanks

Re: Changing the desktop icons on the handset

Apologies JSanders, I realised it isn't the 8220 model I have, but the 8120.

If it is the same manual for both 8820 and 8120 then I'm not certain page 165 is the solution.  Ths only shows how to move icons around within the application; what I am looking to do is move an application shortcut directly onto the 'desktop/homepage' so that I don't have to access the application menu in the first place.

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks

Re: Changing the desktop icons on the handset

Click Menu button and go to homescreen. Now rearrange the top rows application as most used/accessed by you. Now press escape button to go to standby mode. You're preffered appes will show up on top (standby screes) as arranged by you.
