Configuring Facebook 1.6

[ Edited ]
Is there a way to configure Facebook 1.6 to hide posts I don't want (as I can do on FB itself)?  Out of hundreds of friends I really only want to follow about 50 but it takes forever to go through all those I don't want to see posts from.  Thanks.

Re: Configuring Facebook 1.6

Are you talking about getting alerts via text message/email? If that is the case there is a section in the preferences to select who you want to follow and who you don't. You have to do that on the Facebook website. I would suggest doing it on a computer/laptop. I think you can configure your wall to who can post too. I don't do that so I am not sure. You could also search the help section on Facebook to figure those out too.

If you hide the persons posts on the web Facebook application, not in the BlackBerry Facebook app,

1. If any post helps you please click the Like Button below the post(s) that helped you.
2. Please resolve your thread by marking the post "Solution?" which solved it for you!

Re: Configuring Facebook 1.6

I'm talking about having 500 friends on Facebook but on the actual FB site I have them all hidden except for about 50 that I really want to follow, so I only see posts from those 50.  But on my BlackBerry app see posts from all 500 and I don't see a way to hide the posts from those I don't want to follow.

IOW, having people blocked on the Facebook site does nothing to block their posts on the BB apps...really annoying.

Re: Configuring Facebook 1.6

In Facebook (web version) you can create a new sub list of friends which you can give that list less rights to your information or show on your feed.

Will that work? (I'm not sure... just a suggestion for you to try)

Re: Configuring Facebook 1.6

I have that already.  On the FB web app I see post from only those I want, but on the BB app I get posts from everyone.  I'm trying to see only the ones I want also on the BB.

Re: Configuring Facebook 1.6

hello,

the facebook application for blackberry sees everything that you receive by email (facebook notifications sent to one of your facebook email address). when you hide them in your friends stories feed, you just hide them.

if you want to not receive notifications from some friends, you should use a desktop browser, go to your facebook account and configure notifications accordingly to your needs (=meaning receive no notification except for a shortlist of those 50 friends). You can then see if you configured all that well by going to your mailbox (not on your BlackBerry since mails are swallowed by your facebook application).

Re: Configuring Facebook 1.6

Xandrex,

As I've said twice already in this thread...I have already done exactly what you're recommending....exactly!  But I still keep getting posts from many friends on FB whose posts I have already hidden there (using my browser).  I realize what I should do...and I'm doing it, but FB for BB keeps on displaying posts from friends whom I have hidden using a browser.

Re: Configuring Facebook 1.6

There is a way to set your wall settings. Click the link at the top where it says your name. Then when that page loads you will see a settings link that is under your box for your status. Click on that and scroll down. You will see a set of options about who can see your wall. Play around with that and see what happens.

Re: Configuring Facebook 1.6

Thanks, brooketini, but that's not the answer either.  I don't want to stop people from seeing my wall...that's up to them.  I just want Facebook for BB to work like Facebook itself.  I have already "hidden" all posts from friends I don't want to see so in Facebook itself all is working fine.  But when I open FB for BlackBerry I have posts from hundreds of people...most of them the ones I have already "hidden" their posts on Facebook.  I think it's a lost cause.
