Connecting to Wi-Fi

* Wi-Fi on

* Scanned Network --> Selected from "Available Wi-Fi Networks" --> Selected network shows as "connected"

* on wireless modems user interface shows  my 8520 gets an IP address

but

* Wi-Fi icon on main screen is grayed out...

* Manage Connections --> appropriate network name shows green but with a minus sign at right

* cannot reach internet
am I wrong? Aren't we supposed to be able to access internet through a wireless network?

Re: Connecting to Wi-Fi

My wifi icon is also greyed out but if you go to settings, choose advanced settings and then browser you should be able to choose Hotspot browser as an option. This enables me to still be able to access the internet on my device using my ISP.  If my wifi icon goes grey and I am in at home but don't want to use the laptop, I usually just reset the browser to hotspot and use the home broadband supply rather than BlackBerry.  Something similar to this happened a few months ago and this is how I was advised to get around it.  I find using my provider enables faster browsing.

Good luck
