Contact names not showing on incoming calls

Have had the 9670 Style for a few weeks now.  Didn't have this problem, but then about a week ago, suddenly every call I receive from a contact only shows the number!  What gives?

Re: Contact names not showing on incoming calls

There could be any one of four solutions... Try these:
1. Make sure you set your own country code at Phone dialer Screen > Options > Smart dialing.
Set your Country Code in this format: "+xx" where xx = your country code. Some countries have two or three digit Country Codes. Do not place the '+' in your contact's entry.
* In the US, set this Country Code as "+1", and place your local area code in the proper box (this normally the default setting in a new BB).

2. At the same location, change the National Number Length to the number of digits for your country (since some countries will have less than 10 as set as the default in the BB). Find out the total digits, minus the country code. Do not place the '+' in your contact's entry.
* For example, some countries have a total number to 8 (plus 3 for country code). You would enter "8".

3. You may have "Content Protection" set on your Address Book.
OS5 devices: Look at Options > Security > General Settings. Scroll down to Content Protection > Include Address Book = NO.
OS6 devices: Homescreen > Options > Security > Encryption > UNcheck the box next to Encrypt.

4. Go to Options on your device > Security Options > Encryption > Include contacts set to "No"

(some of the above paths may vary from OSv.5 devices and OSv.6 devices, but the once found, the settings are the same.)

Tried all of those with no success.  In fact, NOW I have no Contacts on the phone!  Had them 5 minutes ago.  Now, nothing.

Re: Contact names not showing on incoming calls

Open your Address Book > press the Menu key > Filters, and make certain ALL filters are unchecked.

Does that bring your contacts back?

Re: Contact names not showing on incoming calls

OK, well nothing you did of those four things would delete or remove contacts.

Look at your main Options icon > Menu key > Status > Menu key > Database sizes.

Scroll down to Address Book. What is the exact size listed to the right, such as "123/45"k

Re: Contact names not showing on incoming calls

Hi,

I've got the same issue; my phone just shows "unknown number/unknown caller" even though it's somebody from my contact list.

I've tried all your suggestions above, but no luck.

Funny thing is, that my wife has the exact same phone, with the exact same plan (actually purchased together) and on her phone the contact details (from someone on her list) show at an incoming call.

I've checked every single setting I could think of, between her phone and mine, but can't find any differences. Therefore, I would assume it would work on mine as well...

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Cheers,

bert
