Convert REM Files to MP3 Format?

I have downloaded several songs via the Amazon MP3 application on my Blackberry Curve 9300.  Little did I know that the songs were downloaded as rem files and not mp3 format?  I cannot upload the files to my desktop or laptop computers nor my Kindle.

Amazon said since I downloaded most of the songs over 3 months ago, they cannot move them over to my Cloud Player.  How do I convert rem file to mp3 format?  I do not want to have to purchase these songs again.

I haven't tested this, but give it a shot:

Re: Convert REM Files to MP3 Format?

That process above won't work. Waste of time.

Your files were downloaded as MP3 files, but you have content encryption placed on your Media Card, and then the REM extension is added to the filename, because you have protected those files.

You must turn off the encryption first, and then you can copy the files and they will be usable.

What do you do if I cannot turn off the encryption because it was encrypted at the corporate level?  Is there any conversion software I can buy?  What are my options?  Thanks.

Re: Convert REM Files to MP3 Format?

I turned of my encryption and I still cannot download the REM files.  Windows Media does even read the file.

Re: Convert REM Files to MP3 Format?

Ildietel. If it's encrypted by your BES and your BES admin won't turn it off you are out of luck.

Re: Convert REM Files to MP3 Format?

Nyesgran, you say you can't download them or do you mean the REM is not removed? Please be specific about what you're seeing.

Re: Convert REM Files to MP3 Format?

The REM was not removed therefore the songs will not open in Windows Media.

Re: Convert REM Files to MP3 Format?

There is only one way I know how and I find it to be the simplest.

Just send your files through bluetooth.

Sending your files through bluetooh removes any encription and automatically converts it to MP3 or JPEG.

It's slow but really effective.

Try it out and let me know if it works!
