Re: Curve 8330 keyboard not working!!

When u get to the last stage of installing to the device, before u press 'finish' there was an option that said advanced. You need to press that and make sure both those checkboxes are ticked. that way it will remove the whole os and reload it..

What u did was just write over the top of existing software

This was poster by Bumblepie earlier in the post, did you do this?

Re: Curve 8330 keyboard not working!!

I looked and those options were checked and 'greyed-out'.  In other words, they were checked with no option of unchecking.

Re: Curve 8330 keyboard not working!!

Well according to Bumble they were supposed to be checked, although I do,t know if they were greyed out.

We can't wipe the device so. Basically  the option that Bumble talked about says that unless they are checked the new install is loaded over the old OS.  SO that says the actual device load takes place after you check finish.

At this point we can't go forward, we can only try it again, if you want.

Tell me your thoughts? Before you try anything OK?

Re: Curve 8330 keyboard not working!!

You have two options left.

1) contact your carrier and ask to be escalated through to Research in Motion (if ur carrier is a support partner for them). The are the creators of blackberry. Because of the multistage load operation error you are getting, RIM will need to send u and walk u through a java load. Its a long and lengthy process.

2) Take device back to the shop and say you have exhausted all avenues of troubleshooting including help from RIM support staff via the net (which is us).

Bugger that it had to happen.. its a very common thing though

Re: Curve 8330 keyboard not working!!

I'm back.  I'll try going through the steps listed previously to see if it works this time.

In the mean time, is there any way to use the computer to access address book and messages?

hello,

I think there should be no problem for you to use the Desktop Manager and synchronize the datas on your Blackberry with Outlook/Yahoo/GMail/GoogleCalendar.

Re: Curve 8330 keyboard not working!!

Hello,

I'm back as well,

I would get whatever you need off the PC before you restore, that way the PC will be totally dedicated to reloading your OS.

Thanks,

Let me know how it goes!

Re: Curve 8330 keyboard not working!!

well I have been through everything listed here and after the restore sure enmough every single key and button is not functioning.  I had a protective case and this was not dropped nor was it dropped in water or anything.  It is a month old.  The srcoll works but nothing else.  It is receiving emails etc and shows incoming calls BUT it is kaput otherwise.  I know they are going to tell me its may fault somehow at the store.  ON the curve is there not a reset button

Re: Curve 8330 keyboard not working!!

Well I think it's a hardware issue then.

If under warranty, take it back,

If not either have it repair, or repair it yourself.

Let me know and I will send you a link to buy the part and replace it.

Thanks,
