Curve 8520 update issue

Hey there, i just got started in this BB comunity and ive been using my curve 8520 for about a year without any complain but yesterday a plugged it into my pc, it seemed to be updating its sofware and i went "ok" but now.... i have a problem with whatsapp... when i tried to run it again after the BB update, it asked me to update it too, so i did it and now it seems to be missing all whatsapp conversation since january 2, 2014..........pls, i use it to work too and i have many important documents on it....does anyone know if i already lost my info and why?,,,,do u know how can i recover it?....tyvm in advance.....what should i do?

Responding to offers to update without evaluating the consequences is, as with all computing devices, risky. Knowing nothing more than what you've reported, it's rather tough to know why this happened...typically, the update process takes a backup and then restores from that backup once the update succeeds. But, if anything goes wrong, the restore may not have happened. Since you used your PC, it also should have offered to you that backup...as long as you did not refuse that, then you should have stored on your PC a backup file from which you can restore.


Look on your computer for files with extension of BBB or IPD...if there are any with date/time of around when this update happened, then they may be candidates for you to use as the source of restore. You can find detailed instructions via the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post. There is no guarantee that the data you need is in that backup...the best backup process involves much more than just the Desktop Software backup (if indeed one was even taken when you updated).
