Curve 8530: White screen with error message, won't reset

My phone froze up for a long time. I took the battery out, waited a minute and put it back. Now my phone will not reboot completely. After the Sprint screen, an 'uncaught inception' message pops up, then it proceeds to verify security software.....the screen turns bright white and a tiny message in the middle of the screen says:  app error 523 with the word 'reset' highlighted under it.....I can't do anything but click on it, for it to shut down and go through the whole exact thing all over again.....HELP PLEASE

If it won't boot up cleanly, then you may need to try Safe Mode:

As for the error message, here is the official KB...it sounds like your next step is formal support:

  • KB24395 "Error 523", "App Error 523", or "JVM 523" appears on the BlackBerry smartphone

I ended up having to call Sprint. Apparently the "uncaught inception" had gotten stuck and caused my phone to freeze and unfortunately ERASED ALL SOFTWARE!!! The store technician had to reload/reset my phone!!! ALL WAS LOST......apps and contacts------so I'm starting over as if I just took the phone out of the box. Good thing, I still had my old phone, so they were able to transfer my contacts over-----I hadn't connected to the BB Desktop before I had the problem, or I could've retrieved my info that would've been linked to the computer

Thank you so much......I'm just now seeing this post. I had took my phone to the Sprint store after talking to a rep. I'm convinced that this info would've helped a lot!!! I believe thats all they did...lol

You are correct...they likely just reloaded your OS...which you could also have done.

Further, you have now migrated from the latter to the former in this old saying -- "There are two kinds of computing device users -- those who have lost data, and those who will". RIM provides multiple methods for us to take regular backups. And backups quite simply are not an optional activity.
