Your carrier: Verizon Wireless
Curve 8530 in Smoky Violet (can't get in a the moment to see the OS)
Apps and free space
A battery pull is the only way to fix this, it seems.
Apps: Weather Channel... I forget what else offhand.. not many.
The BB freezes up - put simply. The first time it happened, I had turned off my Bluetooth headset and the phone froze. Now it does it at seemingly random times. The phone goes dark and locks as normal, but when I try to use it, the "Keypad is locked. Press the Mute button to unlock" message comes up (it has a secondary border around it as well, which is not normal). Problem being - pressing the mute button doesn't work. Eventually the screen goes dark again, and hitting buttons wakes it up, but nothing moves it off of that screen and nothing works. Pulling the battery is the only way to kick it out of that.

I'd get it out of that loop, and running, and then upgrade the OS.
See the link below, for the download and simple installation instructions.
Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion.
1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.
