Curve 9300 trackpad scoll issue - Only responds to clothing

I've got a 9300 with a scroll trackpad problem. However, it's unlike the other scroll issues that I've read about, but apparently harder to fix.

 

The trackpad refuses to scroll, but will respond to clicking it. normally However, I discovered that if I cover my finger with a piece of cloth (usually my shirt), the trackpad scrolls normally.

 

I've tried cleaning around the edge of the trackpad with a small pin, and tried placing a piece of tape over the trackpad, neither helped. In fact, the piece of tape stopped the trackpad from recognizing my enshirted finger.

 

I tried the piece of paper between the sim and battery, to no effect.

 

When this first began to happen, I updated to OS, which resolved the issue for about 2 days.

 

Anyone else have this or know how to fix?

Thanks for the idea.

 

I updated the OS and then tried the sensitivity adjustment. Unfortunately, it didn't work.


The phone is out of warranty, so I'm going to look into replacing the trackpad.
