Curve 9360 OS 7.1 update problems

Couldn't find any threads with this particular problem, so here goes....

I'm trying to upgrade my T-Mobile Curve 9360 to OS 7.1, so I try checking for updates, either over the wireless or connected to the desktop using the BB website and Desktop Software v7.  Every time, it tells me my phone is up to date, even though I'm running OS 7.0.0.319.  The only other version indicated available is the one I already have.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Curve 9360 OS 7.1 update problems

Hello!

Please refer to the official download portal to know what OS packages each carrier has released and is therefore supporting:

Also, at the top of each device forum, there should be some "sticky" threads that discuss the OS levels available for each model. You can use those as reference as you proceed.

From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:

Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. You can even use a different carriers OS package by simply inserting, between steps 1 and 2, the deletion, on your PC, of a file named VENDOR.XML. Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.

If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

Good luck and let us know!

Re: Curve 9360 OS 7.1 update problems

Ah, looks like T-Mobile is not yet supporting 7.1 for the Curve, so that sure explains it!  Shucks.

Thanks very much for your help!

Re: Curve 9360 OS 7.1 update problems

Well, technically, you are not limited to only your carriers OS packages. For instance, I am on ATT, but I am running a Telenor OS package with no troubles. Re-read the above post and perhaps you will find the trick to do so.

Good luck!

Ah, I wasn't sure about that, but maybe I'll go ahead and give it a try.  Thanks again!

Re: Curve 9360 OS 7.1 update problems

Excellent! Good luck!

Oh...btw...sometimes, there are two VENDOR.XML files to remove. There is 100% one that must be removed (Program Files x86/Common Files, etc.), but if things don't go right, it could be that the 2nd one also must be removed. The second one is usually in the user folders, hidden areas, Common Files section (I think...haven't had to dig for it in a while!).

Good luck!
