'Customer Services' and a lousy 'phone

I have a Blackberry Curve 9320. Well kept.  Most abuse it gets is having to send texts.  A coddled 'phone.  If it were a dog it would be curled up on the bed at night - you get the picture.

This charming creature is 15 months old and has died.  Been cranky (liked to crash during texts) but now - barely nothing. Can't go forward, back, up or down.

Contacted provider and they pointed out it wasn't their problem as the 'phone was more than 12 months old - needed to contact BB since they have a 24 month warrenty on their handsets.  Great.  Waded my way through all their twaddle about technical support and tickets (and suggested costs) and finally got through to a 'customer service' person who listened to the problem and said we should return the handset to the provider since they were responsible.

The provider (Carphone Warehouse) don't want to know and say I need proof from BB that the 'phone was faulty at point of sale before they'll consider paying for any repairs.

It's **bleep** hard to get in touch with customer services and they don't want to know.    Carphone Warehouse don't want to know.  Anybody know how to get sense out of BB?  All we want is for the 'phone to work.  Is that really so difficult in this day and age?

Re: 'Customer Services' and a lousy 'phone

Exactly what state is the device in right now... you said has died, what does that mean?

It does nothing, won't turn on or boot up?

What have you tried to do?

Happy to help, give us something to go on...

Re: 'Customer Services' and a lousy 'phone

Hi,

I picked up my phone yesterday and found that it had turned off, it took a few tries but I finally managed to get it to turn on. When it did I was unable to scroll up and down or make any changes/alterations (eg alarm). Previously to this my phone also froze at points for the last few months.

If you can help, or have any suggestions, I'd be very grateful.  I'm going into hospital next week and it would be nice to have a 'phone to let people know what's happening!

Re: 'Customer Services' and a lousy 'phone

OK, so it does power on.

Do this first, Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.

After it reboots, let it sit for five minutes before doing anything, then I'd like you to check the File Free at Options > Status, what is the number at File Free?

Maybe you could try resetting the phone to factory settings.
