And as far as my gmail IMAp not working, he did some things like reset the service books or something and called corporate help which told him there was an error in the system but they supposedly fixed it all up. Too bad I still have a delay.
Ah, that is one of those things you can actually do yourself, should the question have been asked.
Understand that at times, there are simply gmail delays, I experience them quite often. My Gmail has been pushing instantly today, it was not this weekend.

I'm surprised the Verizon guy said that the battery is just flat out bad... Now I don't know what you are referring to as good or bad, but my phone always lasts the day, and if I'm not using it a lot, it lasts 2 days no problems. The battery does drain fairly quickly though when playing games, accessing the web and using various apps. If I didn't use any of those, I'm pretty sure I'd get a few days with no problem on mine. Might give you a bit of a guideline for whether or not your battery is functioning correctly. If you like, there's apparently now a 1600mAh battery available with much better power, but you'll have to search for it (and I'm pretty sure it isn't a RIM battery).
As to the camera, yeah, in comparison to other cell phones, it is much slower. The beta OS that I tested was actually even slower (saving the files took ~3 times as long), but I figure this issue will be resolved by the time they do the official release.
As a final comment, I had actually talked to a BB rep, and he did admit that the Storm probably went out too soon, and likely should've waited until the end of this month or February (hardware was fine, but the OS needed tweaking). This is a big reason I'm figuring a new official OS will be released relatively soon.
