Deleting read RSS items from Feed list?

Hi all

I am trying to find a way to delete read items from my news feeds in the Social Feeds app.  There doesnt seem to be an option to keep feeds that are only a day old, for example.  The amount of items is growing quick. Just to be clear, I don't want to delete the actual feed (i.e. BBC News) but just the read/old items from that feed.

Failing that, can anyone suggest a good news feed app that allows you to manage the amount of items kept on the phone?

Thanks for your help in advance!
