Desktop Manager Disabled?

I just installed the Desktop Manager -- followed all the instructions in the installation wizard and restarted the computer.  Now I've opened the software and am trying to use the various functions, but they all say they are disabled.  What's going on?  How do I get the software to actually WORK?

You have to setup the USB connection first. On the main screen go into Options | Connection Options (or Connecting Settings) and change the option to USB <pin>, then click OK. Afterwards all of the options will become available

Thanks -- that did the trick.  You gotta wonder why they don't just put that one last little piece of info in the INSTRUCTION MANUAL . . . .
