The BIS site is where you can setup your emails and send service books,
When you setup your rmail on your BB it actually took you to the site via the browser.
Give me your carrier and I'll give you the site

Login with the username and password you used for email setup on your BB.
Get the battery out and ready to replace. In the upper left corner, you can see the
option for service books, put in the battery and hit send.

OK, I am going to try this, but I actually will need to create an account. When I set up my email accounts all I did was hit the Setup Wizard on the BB. I selected E-mail Setup and the device connected to a website where I entered the POP account informaiton. Then, there were e-mails from email@example.com (x is a digit that varies). The text of the e-mails was as follows:
This message is used to carry data between the BlackBerry handheld and an associated server. Please do not delete, move or respond to this message - it will be processed by the server.
Does this change anything?

Well it sounds like you were able to get to data services after all!
If you are constantly receiving the @etp messages, here is the procedure to fix.

OKAY, let me give you an update.
I went to the site isted for the etp messages and performed the actions there which basically amounted to removing the desktop service book entries and confiming the DM setup.
After doing this I accomplished the additional actions:
1. Removed battery for 1+ minutes and reinstalled
2. Reaccomplished activitation of basic and roaming profiles
3. Reregistered HRT-no message received by device
4. Sent PIN message to device-no message received by device
5. Went to BIS site and attempted to register. It said my PIN was already registered so I requested the password. It sent the password to my BB device, but guess what-nothing received.
So I am still in the 'no internet' zone.
So I am ready to reload whatever needs reloaded to get this thing working again.

If you are under warranty I would take it back as defective. I don't know if this will fix the problem.
If you want to reload the OS, here is the procedure:

If you have a good backup from before this happened skip step 3 and reload it after the procedure.
