Hurray! everything is now up and running again. I didn't have to setup my email again... I got in contact with o2 for the 100th time and asked about sending my service books. 20 minutes later I received activation server messages for all my accounts and sure enough my email set up options changed too. So... thanks to all the help and moral support from JSanders, I'm reconnected and also on v5 firmware!

I seem to be having the same problem as the person in this thread. I have a blackberry bold 9000 from AT&T and want to install the 5.0 OS and I can't! I followed every step present in this thread, I've downloaded the software from "Bell Mobility" to my computer, installed it, deleted the "vendor.xml" file but each and every time I go to upgrade the software my Blackberry Desktop only has the version 4.6 available. Can someone please help me? I'd love to get the new OS and don't know why I haven't gotten an update on my phone.

When I went about installing this I figured that each time I started up desktop manager, it would check for the latest file on the internet first (which the carrier intended to be 4.6 for BIS users). So once I'd done a clean install of v5.0 (I ended up doing multiple installs and uninstalls), I turned off my internet connection BEFORE opening desktop manager and connecting my Blackberry. Indeed when I did the update I think that desktop manager even quickly said 'performing local update'. If you've already tried updating your blackberry, I'd advise uninstalling v5.0 and then reinstalling v5.0, then deleting the vendor.xml file again. I guessed (although I can't verify this), that having tried to update it once unsuccessfully, a log file was created somewhere to bypass the v5.0 installation next time (because I couldn't get it to work the second time with no internet access)... So I uninstalled v5.0 and installed it again (from the original .exe file) before my next attempt (and rebooted by laptop). Do let us know if that works as at the time I also messed around with a device.xml file too, although am not sure that that had an impact or not given that ultimately I uninstalled the whole firmware file anyway.

No success. I almost feel like my desktop manager doesn't know where to look when I tell it to update my phone. I feel like it doesn't even know that i've downloaded version 5.0. Any other suggestions? I'd really like to get version 5.0
thanks for your help,
