Device Memory *GONE* !!

The software version is 4.5.0.162.  I connected the Bold to the computer in Mass Storage mode and then transfered a file, and afterwards removed it as I realized I didn't need it.  However, after disconnecting the USB cable, now I can't access anything stored under Device Memory.  Going to Media then Explore shows only one folder, System.  Going to Options then Memory I see:

Device Memory cannot be read. Verify that the device memory is formatted.

I pulled out the battery, replaced it, and when the phone restarted, nothing has changed.  Now I'm really angry and I don't understand where this problem is coming from.  If I connect it to the computer again in mass storage mode, the usual folders show up in Windows (user and the various document folders in it).  Yet while the computer can see those folders on the phone, the phone itself can't access them (when disconnected from the computer of course).  So what am I to do?  Return a defective phone? Re: Device Memory *GONE* !!

Try this:

Remove the Media Card totally. Reboot the device without it.

Look at Options > Status. What is the File Free number listed there?

Then, reinsert the Media Card again, and reboot the BB.

Any difference?
