Device is locked

My device is locked my password will not unlock it. Asks to Enter "blackberry to continue. Which I do. Says Last Attempt! Information will be erased on failure! I select OK. Screen reads: Enter Password (Final Attempt): I enter password and it does not work.

This means that you have used up your all 10 tries to unlock the device with the right password.

 

Sadly There is nothing much you can do to unlock it from your end.

 

Only the factory can do anything about it, and I've heard that the cost is usually just as much as simply buying a new one.

But, you are welcome to try...check out Incident Support direct from RIM. Beware -- just starting the inquiry with them will cost you. And there is no guarantee whatsoever that they will even be willing to do it.

I have one attempt left, my carrier suggested to try MSID # Sim# or last 4 digits of my cell #. Not sure which I should try seeing my own password wont work. It may also be an alt issue with my password, but scared to try.

1. What Sudeep states is incorrect. Once you've tried your final password attempt, your device will wipe itself of all personal information, preferences, messages, calendar, address book, etc. You will have a "fresh" device.

There is nothing the "factory" can do to save the device from a Security wipe, or retrieve the wiped information.

 

2. If you've had number(s) in your password, (such as 1234), try the alternate alpha character, as in many cases, you didn't depress the ALT key to enter the number when setting up the password.

So, for a password of "1234", it might actually be "1ers"  Does that make sense?

There is NO default password like your phone number or MSID, or whatever, it is ONLY what you set it to be.

 

What a joke RIM's security on these devices would be if we could bypass the password. There's no way.

I have a problem that my blackberry is a bold and it was put back to factory settings and now it's locked, and the password isn't what I had it before I am on try 8/10 to enter the correct password. Is there anything you can help me with?
