Re: Different 9900 in Australia

Hey impete68,

Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.

Thanks for the question.

There are 2 different versions of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 series:

1. BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphone runs on GSM/EDGE/3G Networks.

2. BlackBerry Bold 9930 smartphone runs on CDMA/1XEV Networks.

They will look similar but run on different frequencies and networks.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Cheers.

Re: Different 9900 in Australia

ViciousFerret thanks for the reply,

What I have found out is BlackBerry supplied two versions of the Blackberry 9900 to Australia:

3G: UMTS: 2100/1900/850/800 MHz for Telstra and Vodafone

and

3G: UMTS: 2100/1700/900 MHz for Optus.

Both versions had 2G: GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 1900/1800/900/850 MHz

Any unlocked version will make phone calls and Slow Speed Data with a SIM from any carrier but depending on which version you have and with which carrier you are with will decide on whether you recieve High Speed Data.

My question is how can you tell from looking at a phone which one has UMTS: 3G: 850MHz?

Hey impete68,

Thanks for the reply.

You will not see a physical difference as they both look the same.  You will need to go into the Mobile Network options to see the difference.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Cheers.
