E-Mail Account set-up app not working for 9780

Hi all,

I am not able to open the e-mail account set-up menu anymore. Neither from the menu nor directly through the e-mail. My network provider says it is a device issue. Without this I cannot modify anything and therefore the BB becomes useless.

Thanks for your reply.

Re: E-Mail Account set-up app not working for 9780

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):

1) Register HRT

  • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
  • Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app

2) Delete and Resend Service Books

  • KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
  • If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
  • KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
  • Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

3) Reboot

  • With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
  • See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support. You also can, with many carriers, make modifications via their BIS website from a PC/browser...but you have to ask them if they have such a site for you to use.

Good luck!

Re: E-Mail Account set-up app not working for 9780

I am getting down to step 2b to resend the service book ((KB02830) but where I am stocked again.

Actually the issue is that I cannot access the menu Options > E-Mail Accounts > Account Management / Set-up and manage internet email accounts. It throws an error message "Unable to open email setup application. Contact your wireless service provider."

This means I cannot follow any of the 3 methods described in KB02830 and therefore cannot add the service again.

What should I do? The service is deleted now.

I am also having CICAL service books which I did not delete - only the CMIME.

I'm sorry, maybe I'm confused...what part of that message was unclear? Also, the KB for sending the Service Books lists more than just the one method to do so...you only discussed trying one method, what about the others?

Good luck and let us know!

None of the methods are working. I tried all of them.

I'm sorry, but I can't correlate contacting your provider and nothing working. That just doesn't make sense to me. Please do as the instructions say...contact your mobile service provider for formal support.

Good luck!
