EVALUATION UNIT -9360

Today I bought a Blackberry Curve 9360. The phone came  encased in an otterbox case and cover and when I went to put my sim card in, I then noted it says on the back cover "Evaluation Unit Not for Sale or Lease". I immediately contacted the individual that I bought it from but as you know no response is forthcoming. 
I then googled the information and, hence the reason for contacting you . I am seeking ANY input in resolving this issue as I feel that I would've lost $250.00 and the opportunity to really appreciate a great phone.
Grateful for a feedback.

Hi and Welcome to the Community...apologies for the delay...hopefully you already received your answer, but just in case!

From what you describe, it indeed sounds like you have dealt with a dishonest seller, and have received a device that was either lost or stolen, and should never have been resold anywhere. As such, I would estimate that you will never be able to properly use this unit. But, your recourse remains where your contractual arrangement is...between you and that dishonest seller. No one else is party to the transaction, and therefore no one else has standing for it.
