Error 603 -- Way around the endless loop?

Error 603 results in an endless loop which gets in the way of access the device to do  anything other than sign in...and then the error message appears again. It doesn't have a memory card.   Has anyone found a way or a service which would take the photo and video files off the phone?

I've a replacement phone, and a memory card which I'll use in the future.  But I'd like to get the old phone's photos.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Well, if the files you want are on the media card and you have not previously enabled content protection/encryption, then you can simply remove the media card and use any card reader to do what you desire with the files.

If, however, the files are in Device Memory or you did enable content protection/encryption, then you do need to get your device functioning in order to extract those files. But, to start, please be sure you've fully reviewed these and attempted what they recommend:

  • KB29130 Receiving "app error 603" or "app error 523" after registration to the cellular network
  • KB23951 "Error 603", "App Error 603", or "JVM 603" appears on the BlackBerry smartphone

You also can search this site as well as the public KB database for threads/articles that may be of use to you.

Otherwise, you could attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

  • KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens. If the behavior ceases in Safe Mode, then you should have an opportunity to use Mass Storage Mode and copy the files you need.

Good luck and let us know!
