My son has a Blackberry Curve 8310. A friend tried to enter his password erroneously a few times (don't know how many) and then my son supposedly tried to enter it correctly. The phone started wiping out information with a bar showing progress so my son yanked the battery out. Now the phone displays only the message typed above in the "subject" line. It won't power off, nothing happens if you take the battery out and put it back in or move or click the roller ball.
AT&T advised downloading the latest version of Desktop Software (v 4.5), which I did and "perform a master reset or install applications" per the Tutorial using this new verison of desktop software. Tried to do that and can get as far as "Application Loader"; "Add/Remove Applications"; then a box comes up where it automatically fills in I.D. info. for the phone and requires a password for the phone and then I can get no further as far as installing anything on the phone.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Just in case, here is the RIM KB for the original error -- make sure you've followed all of those steps.
If it still won't work, you may need to treat the BB as a brick...in which case recovery might be somewhat different...see this:
One thing is certain -- all data that was previously on the BB is lost. Hopefully there was a backup done recently so that you can restore to that point.

Welcome to the forums bblover4ever
If the password is where you're getting stuck, I think that if you keep putting in the wrong password it should eventually reset or wipe the phone clean. Other than that, the suggestion above is exactly what you need to be doing.
