Have recently upgraded via appworld updater to Facebook v126.96.36.199
In the previous version when a notification came through from Facebook it would bring up a facebook icon on the home screen and NOT send an email to the email address on the blackberry.
For example I have a BIS email address set up on my device (mobileemail.vodafone.net) and also have the blackberry facebook app messenger service turn on (ticked) in the facebook app and also the "blackberry notifcation for smartphone" ticked in the PC facebook via iexplorer.
Before only the facebook notifications came up as the app or facebook knew this was the same address, since the upgrade I now get both a email to my BIS email account and a notification icon appear.
I have change nothing in options.
(have now tried logging in and out, reticking options etc , nothing)
Is there a new option or is this an upgrade bug. The face book app has stopped removing the email and now sends both to the device?
Since typing this my wife with her 8520 has just told me she has the same issue.
Anybody else have this?
Its not a major proble as at least I'm getting a email and notification rather then nowt.

Read this KB article to see if there is anything that might help you.
A number of users have reported issues with the Facebook for BlackBerry notifications not delivering correctly with the new 1.8 upgrade, even with the settings made correctly.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I did try this but when I looked at facebook on the pc, I noticed that all the notifications were disabled except the "blackberry for smartphones" option.
After reading your article link I now realise this is the correct way of showing the notifiactions on my bb.
Why did they change it from the last veriosn, it worked fine then?
Thanks for the link.
Cheers, (will post again if it still doesn't work.)

In the FB app press the blackberry key and go to Options.
Scroll down and click the link 'Turn off all Facebook Email Notifications'
It will send the request and you should only receive the fb notification icon.

Thanks!! I tried these things, my e-mail notification was already turned off. I performed another battery pull and it fixed the problem for a few hours and now I am back to no facebook notifications I think I need to get myself to a Sprint store to get the issue repaired by the guys that have helped me with other BB issues! Thanks for your help though!

After a bit of confusion I have now understood that the new app pushes notifications directly to the phone without a link to the emails from Facebook, so if you turn them all off in Facebook, and turn them on in the BB app, you will get them. Right?
However, this doesn't allow you any choice over WHICH notifications you get. The whole point of the facebook Account settings page is that not everyone wants a BB notification whenever someone invites you to an event or makes a comment or pokes you- I have over 300 friends on FB and a lot of them just block-invite all of their friends to events I have no interest in.
So previously I just wanted notifications for messages and wall posts, not every single thing that happens.
Please, it would be really great to allow more options for this so that I can choose what I get. At the moment I'm just searching for a link to downgrade to 1.7 so I can go back to the old way of receiving them.
