Facebook alert (where texts would appear network sign) not going away

Hey, sorry I'm new here so apologies if this appears in the wrong area of the forum, but was wondering if anyone could shed some light/help me?

I have an icon which reads "1F" (the f being the facebook icon) appearing below my network sign, which I cannot get rid of or make go away.  I do use facebook on my Blackberry Pearl and would like to continue using it but i have logged into facebook on there and there is nothing that has come up for me to check that i can see, but the icon is still there.  Can I get rid of it and if so how?

i had a similar problem with message icons a week ago, which i resolved using the reconcile and mark prior opened tools.

has anyone had a problem like this and if so, how did you resolve it?

thanks

Remove the battery from your device while device is turned on and then reinsert the battery and check the behavior.

the 1F is in my opinion still there.

home screen >> Messages >> menu >> search

do a search for all messages type, all folders, unread.
delete the facebook message.
