Flashing stock firmware / erase branded firmware

[ Edited ]

I would love to blow away the Rogers branded software on my Torch 9800, and install just the stock Blackberry OS6. Anybody know how to do that?

Carrier/SIM: MTS

Firmware Branded: Rogers

Status: unlocked

PIN: <Personal Content Removed>
Model: RCY71UW
OS 6.0 build 2921 (v6.0.0.666 / v6.6.0.241)

Completed security wipe, all data erased, nothing backed up, phone unlocked thanks to cellunlocker.net

Re: Flashing stock firmware / erase branded firmware

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

There is no "stock" BB OS package for any BB. BlackBerry does not release ANY OS packages direct to end users. Rather, the carriers are responsible for doing so. But, there is nothing restricting you from using ANY carriers OS package, as long as it is for your specific model number. You must, to do so, do the trick of deleting the VENDOR.XML file(s), but there is nothing stopping you from doing so.

Now, if your desire is to change the hard-encoded VendorID and/or the initial boot-up carrier "splash screen", then I must tell you that there is no way (legally) to do that. But, there also is nothing about either of those that prevents you from using another carriers OS package.

Good luck!
