I had no problems with previous versions of the software, but the 188.8.131.52.0 version is driving me nuts, not only is it a memory hog (50Mb!) and takes forever to load, but I have had to reinstall three times in two months. It will load and I will try to sync my phone, but an "Unknown error" box pops up, and the synch doesn't happen. I fix it by going into the Control Panel and repairing it, but why do I have to do that about every three weeks? I use Windows XP 5.1, BTW. If I ever had the time, I would go back to the old version. It was so much better.
