Frozen phone while updating

My Bold 9900 is frozen on one screen that I can't get to change.  I was updating to new software through blackberry desktop when my internet connection went out because some down the street ran over a cable box & knocked out the whole neighbourhood. the warning on the update screen said not to interrupt the update or my phone may become unusable....well that's what has happened.  I have a white screen with "Blackberry Platform" across the top & then the rest of the screen lists everything else alphabetically: addressbook, altmusic, alt pictures altringtones....etc   I've tried updating again with the same result of getting stuck on this screen.  I pulled the battery out to re-boot...same result....I've taken the sim card out.....same result.  ANY help would be greatly appreciated please.   I've tried to go into blackberry desktop so I can reset it default or to my backup file but it won't give me that option either....the backup on the blackberry desktop isn't active for me to choose it.
