GPS work when out of range?

If I am out of cell phone range, does the GPS still work on the Curve?

Thanks

Re: GPS work when out of range?

Good question, I'd like to know this too. I'll let you know if I find out. I would think it should if it is actual GPS from satlites and not triangulated from cell towers.

Re: GPS work when out of range?

Well, I am back from my camping trip and the answer is the GPS component does NOT work if you are out of network range.  I was on the top of a 12k ft mountain and it kept telling me "need clear view of the sky".  It is too bad.  I would like to think I had a GPS lifeline even when I was out of cell range.  (I use Sprint).
