Is there a way to tell which protocol my BlackBerry uses to poll my Gmail accounts? I have each Gmail account set up through BIS. Is there a way to change from IMAP to PO3, as I understand that POP3 is more instantaneous?

Thank you for the information.
Why would they choose the slower of the two? From everything I've read, POP3 is a more instantaneous delivery method than IMAP for Gmail on the BlackBerry.

one thing I thought of while I sit watching GSP beat down on BJ Penn.
You could try advanced mode
log into BIS account
put in email address, leave both password fields blank
you will get an error, but you will get a manual option as well
then try putting in the server pop.gmail.com with your email, user and pass
see if that helps for you
dont think you can do it from your device, have to do it from the metroPCS BIS website

That is not true anymore for GMail and Yahoo.
pop is faster on all forms of emails or software but is lacking in features that imap has
