Very interesting to read this thread as it's almost identical to my own experience with my wife's Bold 9780 when trying to sync Google calendar. I used to use Google Sync which failed somtime in late 2012 so I have now removed that from the phone. Following the forum advice I switched to using BIS and the associated gmail account for the calendar with no success, just the same experience as you describe.
This morning I woke up and had the brainwave of just using the web app for Google calendar and I am happy to say that it is a half decent workaround. I've placed a Calendar bookmark on the Bold start screen and it's kind of usable. You can add new events using the Google quick entry format and you see the events as an agenda style list. There is no way to delete an event that I have found. Kind of wierd but that's how it seems to work. Because you are using the web app syncing to Google is instantaneous because you are modifying your Google calendar database directly.
I also found no way of logging into to BIS Orange (UK) via the web, absolutely unbelievable way to run a company really, no surprise RIM is almost dead. On the other hand the Bold hardware is great and I was hating the idea of having to buy a new Android phone just to solve the problem of shared Google calendars.
So, out of interest, did you ever get any resolution?

Thanks for the Orange BIS URL. I can see that my email does not make it clear but I did actually get this far but was unable to login at this point. I tried PIN and IMEI approach but it failed in the same way that the thread originator described.

I'm new here and I have had the same problem for a few months and ... I think ... I SOLVED IT ! (In my case).
In short: I noticed in calendar options: Default calendar for new events that Facebook was the option. Even though Facebook had been uninstalled and there was no trace of it in the apps list. (It had been previously restored.)
This Facebook option could not be de-selected so I figured it had remained there by mistake.
So I did backup - then factory reset - then reloaded data WITHOUT CALENDAR data. (Since Google mail is my primary source).
The whole account set-up process was undertaken again - and - NOW IT"S WORKING. Google calendar synchronising both ways as normal. Hurrah !!
I don't know if the Facebook thing was responsible or whether factory reset would have done it.

Starting from 3 days ago, our Bold 9900 don't synchronise anymore with any of our gmail calendar & contact accounts while it has been working perfectly for years.
We use extensively our gmail calendar on our BB9900 and it is a essential tool to manage our rental property with cleaning ladies and information about guests.
We got the exact same issue refered in the initial post.
We followed all the advices recommended in all answers which includes :
- checking/unchecking the checkbox option in synchronisation of contacts and calendar (on the phoen "email setup" & online via the BIS website of the telco-operator)
- sending back "service books"
- registering on the network (menu "host Routing Table"/Option Register now)
- checked each service book
- restarted electrically our phone (removing battery)
- deleting and recreating the account on the phone
- deleting and recreatin the account online via the BIS website of the operator
- created a new gmail account from scratch and recreated from scratch a new account on my phone
- at all time, email reception has been synchronising properly. Only calendar and contacts stopped synchronising.
- it is important to add that a new security request is sent by Blackberry Server related to Google security. A URL is provided and valid for 60 minutes. The URL looks like : bis7.eu.blackberry.com/.... which then automatically redirects immediately to : accounts.google.com/o/oauth2/...
Presence of the logo of Google, if logged in, the name of your gmail account.
Below this is written :
Blackberry Internet Service would like to :
- Synchronise your email
- Synchronise your contacts
- Synchronise your calendar
After validating, your are sent back to : bis7.eu.blackberry.com/html...

"You have successfully authorized the use of your Gmail source. Your calendar and/or contacts items should start sunchronising shortly."
After this, synchronisation never starts.
We have contacted the representative, technician specialist on Blackberry at our telco operator in order to escalate this issue to Blackberry team.
We will keep you posted here as soon as we get some feed back or a full resolution.

Sounds like a frustrating struggle for you. In the end we gave up and now have an Android phone each. Google apps should always work well on Android.

One update from the excellent technician from our telco operator (lets mention it since they have an excellent service : PROXIMUS.BE)
There have been a major change (related to secury) in the process to authorize synchronisation with calendar and contacts for BIS users.
Please refer to the KB36534 posted on Jan. 05, 2015 which inform about this major change which was supposed to be implemented different regions of the world througout January 2015. From our experience this issue is occuring in Belgium since Jan. 11.

Note that this KB36534 describes all the process we go through but doesn't resolve our issue. Even following each step of this KB, we end always recieving a PIN message informing us about the failure of synchronisation our calendar or contacts.

I’m in the UK and have had exactly the same experience as you with my Bold 9900. Until 3 days ago calendar and contact synchronisation worked fine. Now neither work. I’ve done all the things that you have listed without any success and it’s driving me mad!
Since your last message telling us of recent changes to security, I removed my gmail account and then re-added it. I got the PIN message and gave my approval for BIS to use Google mail, contacts and calendar. I was hopeful that this had sorted things out but I was sorely disappointed – synchronisation is still not working.
RIM in the US are looking into this for me and as soon as I have any more information I’ll update this thread.
