Following all advice, I had deleted and reinstalled both protect and OS. numerous times. Although it appeared to be deleting, it wasnt fully. upon reinstall I now notice the check box that says, prevent Protect from being deleted. I unchecked this box and deleted one more time and voila, everything now works perfectly. I guess I overlooked this because it appeared that the app was deleting when it was obviously leaving things behind. Not sure if it will help anyone else out, but after two weeks of trying everything, it finally worked for me.

Kit, I had the same problem with my Torch 9800 , and I got around it by registering my phone with the wireless network, going into a location where I had coverage, and trying again. Hope this helps.
