HELP!! I just made a classic mistake. How do I cancel a sent txt msg!!!

Ive had a disaster!!!! I just sent a tx msg from my blackberry torch 9800 mobile and really dont want it to be received!!!! I quickly turned off my mobile network (vodafone) and so my signal says `off` but the text is sitting with a red clock next to it. Can I stop it from sending? My worst fear is that as soon as I switch on my mobile network, the text will bloody send!!!! HELP!!!!

In addition, before the major error, my 'retries' for sending txts was set to the max...........since I switched off the network, I changed retries to 0.

Now that the network is off, can't you delete the message from the device?

Honestly, unless you can, there's not much you can do.

Hey thanks for replying! I thought about that, but does the little red/orange clock icon mean its started to send already?

Yes, it has begun, and that icon means the message has not been sent.

Have you deleted it yet? What are you waiting on?

Re: HELP!! I just made a classic mistake. How do I cancel a sent txt msg!!!

I'd switched my mobile off, when I switched it back on to delete the text the little red clock icon had been replaced with a big red X. Does this mean I've been saved from complete and utter mortification???? Has the text failed to send?

Re: HELP!! I just made a classic mistake. How do I cancel a sent txt msg!!!

I don't know about the mortification, I am not privy to the content Smiley Wink

I thought, when you said you switched your mobile off, you mean you turned OFF you mobile network (i.e., device is on, but you turned off the mobile network signal).

Yes the red X means the message has not been sent. Now, delete the message, before it sends again.

BEFORE IT SENDS AGAIN??? What.........can it do that!!! **bleep** technology!

Yeh I switched off the network/signal and then a short while I later switched off the phone. I've never been so pleased to see a big red X next to something I've written!!

Seriously, Blackberry need to introduce a big fat CANCEL button/option for fools like me!! Message well and truly deleted!!!

Re: HELP!! I just made a classic mistake. How do I cancel a sent txt msg!!!

The cancel button is located within the user's brain.

Think twice before writing the message. If it seems embarrassing, CANCEL that thought.

Good... so it sounds like the message has not been sent. And you've deleted it from the device.

Re: HELP!! I just made a classic mistake. How do I cancel a sent txt msg!!!

I take on board your advice- crossed wires I think.......content was fine, however sent to wrong person, that was the problem. Anyways, thanks for your help.

re. cancel/stop button/option, Nokia and Apple can do it. Even computers have the Ctrl+Z option to undo things. We all make mistakes :-)
